Phew!
I had also contacted Brother Uk and received a reply to say no reason why the walking foot could not be used with other stitches, as you also indicated. Why on earth did the manual and instructions say it could not??Very many thanks to the blonde lady for putting my mind at rest after a very worrying couple of days thinking I had bought the wrong machine.
