My amazing ‘impulse’ buy…
The Babylock Sashiko machine is remarkable. I had been reading about it online but when I knew Katie would be at The Fabric Mouse to demo it, it was a no-brainer to give it a try! I’m so glad I did, I fell in love with it and all it’s potential. It’s beautifully made, and such solid build quality. The machine works very differently from any other that I have used over the years and produces a very unusual stitch, resembling hand stitching. I would say it’s one for sewers with some experience, not for novices, and it will certainly take a little time to get to know all its potential! I found the bobbin placement a bit tricky to start with, but it just takes a little patience and practice and is totally worth the investment of time. I already have so many ideas and I’ve promised Pam that I shall pop in with my practice pieces. Stuart & Joel were so helpful, and are very knowledgeable and I love visiting the shop, especially now we have access to all the wonderful fabrics again.
Jan got me hooked
I came along to a Babylock day at Fabric Mouse, they are not the closest shop to me but i didn't want to go to the Harrogate Quilt show and get rushed in to buying anything. This Babylock demo day was my first chance to see the Overlocker i wanted actually in a shop that i could use, not just an online store claiming to have one. Jan gave me a short demonstration I bought the Ovation. About 15 minuets later after asking what is the other machine she has been demonstrating i also walked away ordering a Sashiko and WOW its amazing, I have not enjoyed Machine Quilting for a long time i have paid to get my quilts finished, but not now. If you can afford it, you will not be disappointed.
