How to choose a coverstitch machine
Coverstitch or overlocker?
A coverstitch machine sews parallel rows on the front with looper thread underneath, making it useful for stretchy hems. A dedicated coverstitch machine does not trim fabric edges or replace an overlocker. Explore our overlockers for seam construction and edge finishing.
Everyday hems or decorative top cover?
Compare the available stitch types, workspace and free-arm options. Top-cover models add thread on the upper surface for a different finish; the Baby Lock Primo uses its Swing Foot for decorative effects.
Threading and fabric control
Manual and air-threaded looper systems suit different preferences. Air threading of a looper does not mean the needles are air-threaded. Differential feed and adjustable presser-foot pressure help you fine-tune fabric handling; test on a scrap of your project fabric first.
