Choosing your stabiliser or interfacing

• Embroidery stabilisers: check whether the product is tear-away, cut-away or water-soluble, and follow its instructions for use and removal.
• Dressmaking interfacings: choose a suitable weight and a fusible or sew-in finish for the fabric and garment section you are supporting.
• Fusible fleece and firm supports: add padding or structure where your project calls for it.
• Appliqué and patchwork materials: look for bonding webs or printed sewing guides designed for your technique.
