Upgrade Your Machine the Easy Way

If you're thinking about upgrading your sewing machine, trading in your current machine can be a simple way to reduce the cost of your new one.

At Fabric Mouse, we accept selected domestic sewing, embroidery and overlocking machines in part exchange against qualifying new machines.

Every trade-in is assessed individually to ensure the process is fair for everyone.

Looking to move into multi-needle embroidery?

Many customers take their first step into commercial embroidery by trading in their domestic sewing or embroidery machine. We're happy to consider domestic machine part exchanges against qualifying new multi-needle embroidery machines, helping make the upgrade more affordable.

What Can I Trade In?

We will consider many types of domestic machines, including:

  • Sewing machines

  • Embroidery machines

  • Overlockers

  • Coverstitch machines

  • Sewing and embroidery combination machines

The machine doesn't need to be perfect, but it should be complete and accurately described.

What Can't Be Traded In?

We don't normally accept:

  • Multi-needle embroidery machines

  • Industrial sewing machines

  • Toy sewing machines

Some budget machines sold through supermarkets or online-only retailers have very limited resale value. Where possible, we may still be able to accept them for parts recycling and offer a small allowance towards your new machine.

Trade-Ins Are Available Against New Machines Only

Our trade-in programme is designed to help customers upgrade to a new machine.

Trade-ins are not available against:

  • Demonstration machines

  • Pre-loved machines

  • Servicing or repairs

  • Accessories

  • Cash purchases

We do not purchase pre-loved machines outright.

How We Assess Your Machine

Every machine is different, so we'll consider a range of factors, including:

  • Overall condition

  • Working order

  • Age

  • Cosmetic appearance

  • Included accessories

  • Current demand

  • Whether the machine can be economically serviced and resold

We'll always try to offer a fair valuation based on these factors.

Trading In From a Distance

If you're unable to visit us, we can usually arrange a trade-in remotely.

We'll normally ask you to provide:

  • Clear photographs of the machine

  • A recent dated video showing the machine sewing or embroidering correctly

  • Details of any faults, damage or missing accessories

This allows us to provide an initial estimate before the machine is sent to us.

Please note that all remote valuations remain provisional until the machine has been inspected by our engineer.

Final Inspection

Every trade-in is inspected once it arrives with us.

If the machine matches the description you've provided, we'll honour the agreed valuation.

If we discover faults or missing parts that weren't disclosed beforehand, we'll explain our findings and discuss the options with you before proceeding.

If you decide not to continue with the trade-in, you're welcome to arrange collection of your machine or organise its return at your own expense.

If Your Machine Isn't Suitable for Trade-In

Not every machine is suitable for resale.

If we don't feel we can confidently sell your machine, we'll always explain why.

If we don't believe your machine is suitable for resale, we may recommend an alternative approach instead. In some cases, we may even offer to service it for you, helping you achieve a better price when selling it privately. We'd rather help you get the best outcome than accept a trade-in that isn't in your best interests.

Our aim is to help you find the most suitable solution, even if a trade-in isn't the right option.

Accessories Can Increase Value

Including original accessories may improve your trade-in valuation.

Examples include:

  • Standard presser feet

  • Embroidery units

  • Hoops

  • Manuals

  • Power leads

  • Foot controls

  • Extension tables

  • Original packaging (where available)

Honest Descriptions Help Everyone

Please tell us about any faults, repairs or missing accessories before your machine is inspected.

Being open about your machine's condition helps us provide a more accurate valuation and avoids delays later in the process.
