Choosing a New Baby Lock Overlocker: Where Should I Start? — Fabric Mouse retro baby lock sticker

Choosing a New Baby Lock Overlocker: Where Should I Start?

Short answer: start with what you sew. An overlocker trims and finishes a raw edge in one pass and can join seams on suitable projects. If you mainly want neat dressmaking seams, look at an overlocker; if you mainly want the twin or triple rows on a T-shirt hem, read our separate coverstitch guide.

What matters when choosing?

Think about the fabrics you use, how often you change thread colours, whether you want air-assisted threading and how much help you would like with tension. The Baby Lock Victory offers air threading for its loopers and automatic thread delivery. The Baby Lock Acclaim adds air threading for the needles as well as the loopers. Those are different conveniences, so a demonstration can make the choice clearer than a feature list.

For a machine that can overlock and coverstitch, compare a combination model such as the Baby Lock Desire 3; changing functions requires changing the setup. Browse our Baby Lock range or tell us what you sew for a recommendation based on your projects.
