Follow the model's maintenance instructions

Clean only the areas and in the way the manual permits. Do not oil a machine unless its instructions require it, and do not blow compressed air into the mechanism. Replace damaged needles promptly; a fixed number of hours does not make a damaged needle safe.

When professional care is needed

Ask about a service if performance changes, the machine repeatedly jams or there is an unusual noise. Stop using it if there is a burning smell, smoke or an electrical concern. Disconnect it safely and seek advice rather than testing it repeatedly.
