Which cover is missing?

  • Bobbin window: usually the small removable cover above a drop-in bobbin.
  • Slide plate: a sliding cover used on some machine designs.
  • Needle-plate cover or surround: the larger piece around or beside the metal plate.

Product names vary by manufacturer. A photo of the opening and the old part is helpful when identifying a replacement.

What should I check?

Compare the shape, locating tabs, release mechanism and any threading or cutting guide. A cover from a related model may clip in differently. Check whether the product includes just the cover or additional components.

Cracked or loose covers

If a cover will not stay in place, inspect both the part and the receiving fitting. Do not assume the window is the only damaged component. Follow the machine instructions and arrange a check if a replacement will not sit correctly.

Questions and answers

Is the clear window part of the bobbin case?

Usually it is a separate cover. Check the parts description and diagrams for your model.

Will a similar-looking cover fit?

Appearance alone is not enough. Match the model, part number and locating tabs.

Can I sew with the cover missing?

Follow the machine manual. Replace the missing part and check with Fabric Mouse if the correct operating setup is unclear.
